AI Governance in Practice – Building Trust, Accountability & Regulation
OTHER SESSIONS

SHORT DESCRIPTION
A practical workshop to help African stakeholders understand and implement effective, responsible, and context-specific AI governance. Participants will learn how to build concrete trust, ethics, and regulatory frameworks for their projects or institutions.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
As AI becomes a powerful lever for innovation, it also raises complex questions: bias, oversight, transparency, and accountability. This workshop aims to demystify AI governance by proposing tools and methods to build trust, accountability, and regulatory alignment from the design stage.
What we will do together:
- Identify concrete risks: Collaborative workshop to identify ethical, bias and security issues in different AI projects.
- Explore existing frameworks: Simplified overview of the main recommendations, emerging laws and standards (at African and international level).
- Create your own AI governance charter: Each group will co-construct a mini-framework adapted to its organization or to a fictitious case.
- Establishing Accountability Mechanisms: Introduction to Best Practices for Documenting, Auditing, and Monitoring AI Systems
- Discuss key roles: Who does what in governance? (technical managers, legal managers, citizens, users, etc.)
This workshop is designed for decision-makers, developers, lawyers, innovation managers or researchers involved in AI projects on the African continent.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING:
